Feb 14 - Brainwaves - Radio Scotland

Lots has been happening in the last few months, energy data is being gathered in all three communities and the algorithm devleopment is ongoing. ORIGIN featured in Brainwaves  - a radio Scotland programme - which was highlighting the latest scientific developments in energy saving technology which might help us avoid fuel poverty and have more energy efficient homes. ORIGIN was descibed  as a 'project at the cutting edge of eco-house research'.


October 13 update

Demand and behaviour surveys are complete in all 3 communtities. All hardware has been ordered and installation is progressing well in Findhorn, Damanhur and Tamera. The ORIGIN Project team members are excited about soon entering the data collection phase of the project.

Press coverage in La Stampa

The Turin edition of La Stampa featured the ORIGIN project following a successful consortium project meeting in Damanhur, Italy, and the commencement of energy auditing in the Damanhur commnunity. The local Damanhurian blog  also highlighted more about the project.




Energy Audits in Communities


On 7 and 8 January a team from Heriot-Watt University, the University of Strathclyde and Insitituto Tecnológico de Informática have commenced Energy Auditing at the Finhorn Ecovillage. 

The audit, performed with support from community, will form the basis for establishing monitoring points and identifying shiftable and optimizable energy loads. 

Auditing will continue at Findhorn and will commence at the Italian Damanhur community in February and at the Portuguese Tamera community in March

Kick-Off Meeting


The ORIGIN consortium has held a kick-off meeting in Edinburgh (Scotland), organized by the cities Heriot-Watt University, which coordinates the project.

Representatives of eight organizations from five European member states met on 20-21 November 2012 to officially launch the projects activities. The project is funded by the European Union under call FP-2012-NMP-ENV-ENERGY-ICT-EeB with contract number 314742.
